About Rachel Wang, Ph.D.

I help founders protect the biology behind outsourced R&D.

I am a translational immunologist with experience spanning biotech R&D, CRO-based applied immunology, and founder-facing scientific advisory work. I was trained broadly in molecular and cellular biology, earned my Ph.D. from City of Hope, and completed postdoctoral work in tumor immunology at UC Berkeley before moving into industry. My first industry chapter at PrimityBio / CellCarta gave me deep hands-on training in applied immunology, high-dimensional flow cytometry, functional assay design, compound profiling, biomarker discovery, mechanism-of-action studies, and client-driven study execution.

Later, in biotech roles at Hengenix and RemeGen, I moved into project leadership across immuno-oncology, autoimmune, fibrotic disease, checkpoint, cytokine, and innate immunity programs. I led small scientific teams, helped advance programs from discovery toward preclinical packages, and served as an in-house immunology subject matter expert. At WuXi Biologics, I saw outsourced R&D from inside the CRO system — where scientific intent, study feasibility, timelines, execution realities, and data interpretation often collide. Polaris BioStrategy was built from that experience: to give lean biotech teams a practical founder-side biology partner who can help translate complex science into executable studies and decision-ready data.
